Organizer: National Contact Point Austria in the European Migration Network

18 December 2012, Vienna (Austria)

The National Contact Point Austria in the EMN organised a conference on the topic of “Immigration of International Students from Third Countries to the EU and Austria” in the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. The conference was organised as a follow-up to the EMN study on the topic of “Immigration of International Students to the EU Member States”. As a starting point, the event elaborated on the current situation concerning international students from an EU perspective, and discussed the contribution of the study to EU policy making. Following this, concrete research findings of selected EU Member States were presented, and the access to the labour market for third country students and graduates were addressed. A panel discussion of distinguished experts reflected on Austria as a destination for international students and concluded the conference.
