On 21 November 2018, the Austrian National Contact Point organized an anniversary event to celebrate the EMN’s 10th anniversary together with its partners. Among those in attendance were representatives of the EMN’s national steering committee, Austrian ministries, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and research institutions. Guests were invited to an afternoon of academic presentations and discussions, followed by a reception.

Council Decision 2008/381/EC has served as the legal basis for the EMN since 2008. Over the past 10 years, the EMN has contributed to legislation and policy debates by providing up-to-date, objective, reliable, and comparable information on migration and asylum. The EMN has produced research findings on a wide range of topics, such as labor migration, integration, family reunification, international protection, human smuggling, and return.
