EMN Austria
EU Migration Talks 2026 panel

On 2 July 2026, EMN Austria organized the EU Migration Talks 2026 in Vienna. The event brought together representatives of Austrian federal ministries and agencies, as well as African and European embassies in Vienna, for an expert exchange with specialists from international organizations, academia, and civil society on migration in the context of EU-Africa relations.

The 2026 edition of this event series examined migration as a cross-sectoral policy field against the backdrop of Austria's newly adopted Africa Strategy 2026-2029. Speakers addressed the humanitarian situation in Sudan and its regional implications, Austria's whole-of-government approach to migration and mobility, the Austria-Africa partnership from the perspective of Kenya, perspectives on Europe-Africa cooperation, and civil society voices.

The aim was to strengthen cross-sectoral exchange and foster cooperation with African states.
