National EMN Information Event: “Presentation of the International Organization for Migration and the European Migration Network at the Federal Ministry of the Interior”

The International Organisation for Migration in Vienna (IOM Vienna) and the Austrian National Contact Point within the European Migration Network presented their work at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. In the first part of the information session, Andreas Halbach (Director of IOM Vienna) presented the departments of IOM Vienna. These are: Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Operations, Border Management and Project Development. The second part of the presentation focused on the objectives and tasks of the European Migration Network. Dr Katerina Kratzmann (Head of Research) presented the current political framework, the network’s sphere of influence and future developments, such as the information exchange system. Mag. Mária Temesvári, legal adviser at the Austrian National Contact Point, explained the ad hoc enquiries (a tool for rapidly obtaining information from European Member States). Furthermore, Mag.a Elisabeth Petzl, research assistant at the Austrian National Contact Point, presented the EMN studies. Anna Dederichs, MA, research assistant at the Luxembourg National Contact Point, concluded by presenting the EMN Glossary on Migration and Asylum, the first version of which was published in February 2010.
