Accurate, timely, interoperable? Data management in the asylum procedure
The publication provides a concise overview of the EMN study on asylum data-management practices. It looks at the asylum procedure - from application to registration, lodging and examination - across 25 EMN Member and Observer Countries between 2014 and 2020. It highlights national approaches to data collection, storage, sharing and protection, identifies key challenges such as system interoperability, resource constraints and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and presents selected good practices to enhance data quality, timeliness and system integration. The EMN inform is designed for policymakers and practitioners and delivers accessible, actionable insights for improving data governance in asylum systems.
