Early integration of applicants for international protection

Early integration is a key part of effective migration and asylum policy, yet measures for applicants for international protection during the asylum process remain seldom systematically recorded or monitored. This EMN inform examines the types of early integration measures provided by EMN Member and Observer Countries, their mode of delivery, the authorities responsible for them, and their funding sources. Drawing on contributions from 25 EMN National Contact Points, it looks at language learning, civic/cultural orientation and vocational/labour market orientation, how measures are adapted for women, minors and vulnerable applicants, and how they are communicated. The inform identifies recurring challenges, such as financial and organizational constraints, and highlights good practices including rapid early intervention and coordination between public authorities, civil society and local communities. For Austria and other EMN Countries, the inform offers key insights to support the development of effective early integration measures.
