Family Reunification in Austria

The study gives an overview of national rules and regulations for family reunification regarding third-country nationals, policy changes including public debates and statistics of family reunification during the reference period 2002 to 2006.A focus lies on the legislative changes that were introduced with the amendment of the Settlement and Residence Act that came into effect in 2006. These changes were mainly due to the transposition of the Council Directive 2003/86/EC on the right to family reunification into national law.
