Statelessness in the European Union, Norway, Georgia and Serbia
Statelessness can severely restrict access to fundamental rights and legal protection, making it an important issue for migration and integration policy. This EMN inform provides an overview of legal and policy frameworks on statelessness across EU Member States, Norway, Georgia and Serbia, including approaches to statelessness determination, residence rights, access to citizenship, and safeguards for children, while highlighting remaining challenges and examples of national practice. A dedicated chapter on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum examines the relevance of statelessness considerations within the framework of the Pact and highlights emerging developments in this area.
